It’s no secret that I decorate my beach house in a coastal house style every summer. But I’ve been carrying oyster shells, vintage wooden boats, and other beach-related things for three more seasons.

There’s a rule that says I can’t enjoy coastal elements. And the condition of the beach when it’s cold and dark? Decorating like this seems like the perfect way to cheer me up during this long winter.
Because of the time of year, I try not to go overboard with nautical accents. The goal is to be somewhat subtle in my approach.
First, let’s talk about winter decorations. From knitted blankets to natural materials, adding layers of texture is essential to creating a cozy winter atmosphere.
Add a wicker basket to your coastal-inspired winter home to add texture. I bought a large basket in the fall that I love and I have a few picnic baskets in my living room.

Not only did I create a cozy winter space, but I tried to embrace the coastal style at the same time. My vision was to try to blend in the charm of the coast while keeping it warm and inviting during the colder months of the year.
I chose coastal colors such as blue, gray and neutral for the color palette of I this season. These cool tones will give a gentle touch of coastal vibes while still maintaining the cozy winter vibe I’m looking for.
Using layered textures like these coastal-hued pillows, cushions and rugs will add depth to any space. They provide that extra comfort, perfect for cold days and make you feel warm.
