Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are everyone’s obvious first stop when looking for anything used. It’s a great resource for free or cheap items in your area and it’s no secret, social buy/sell platforms are just as popular these days as the social media platforms that support them. In some rare cases, someone will be down a shed and will just need the wood pulled down. It is always important to keep an eye on the current posters in your area as in most cases they are first come first served. In other situations, someone may have leftover material from a project they just finished and needs it all out of the way quickly. These types of situations happen every day in and around your area and really benefit both parties and happen relatively often on these types of social buying platforms. Items can be added and sold at a moment’s notice, making it an incredibly competitive atmosphere, but if you don’t mind competing with others to get the best deal, Facebook and Craigslist would definitely be my first stop when I’m looking for any . types of free or cheap building materials in my area. Home Decor Stores To Shop Now And Always

Resale materials and reuse centers are popular in my area, they are like goodwill in hardware stores. I have deals on everything from bathroom sinks to hardwood floors at these types of stores. Many times these stores accept warehouse items, but they will also take items that have been returned to the store due to stains or any other reason you can think of, so keep your eyes open and be aware while shopping at these stores . just check the item before you buy and you will be just fine. Some of these stores also offer special offers on certain days. Real estate sales are gold mines and depending on the time of year and where you are, the competition may even be in your favor. Accent columns, trim, porch swings, outbuildings, picket fences, mailboxes, plywood, many things can be bought locally at real estate sales at the lowest possible price because everything has to go if it doesn’t sell, it gets thrown away. I always stay after the show because you can potentially bid on items that didn’t sell the first time and if you’re lucky you might get some free bids just hauling stuff away after the sale. Many of these deals are just a matter of positioning yourself in the right situation to take advantage of and seize opportunities when presented.

Yard sales and garage sales are especially popular in the fall and spring, but they can be very helpful when looking for inexpensive materials. Not the most reliable source of materials to buy for your new build, but you can get lucky on occasion and find some particularly useful materials, nails, tools, horseshoes, drills, lumber, shingles, and best of all strong of these in abundance. at yard sales at little or no cost to you.
