Plants can bring a fresh and lively atmosphere to your living room, creating the feeling of an oasis. Potted plants, especially those native to coastal regions, can complement your modern coastal interior design. Palm trees, succulents and figs grow well indoors with natural light.
Mix and match patterns such as stripes, checks and florals to create visual interest in your living room to complement the overall soft tones. A home by the sea is all about creating a casual, relaxed atmosphere, and playing with patterns is a great way to break up too much white in a space.
Add depth and texture to your living room with accents like throw pillows, blankets and rugs. These accent layers can create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere.
Installing a large, statement lamp or fan in the center of the room is a great feature to center the entire living room. These accents can be used in subtle ways, such as by choosing colors that match your walls so that your statement piece is actually quite subtle, so you can create a cohesive and stylish look.

Although not required, providing designers with a clear visual guide to your preferred style can help with the design process. In this case, the clients’ inspirational images showed the designers exactly what they wanted for their home – coastal interior design. After receiving initial proposals from several designers, clients were able to choose the concept they liked.
Wanda Designer’s neutral and dreamy living and dining room mood board caught the attention of clients. It comes in a sandy color scheme suitable for a modern seaside living room and offers artistic additions that will give the interior a creative and unique look. Vanda also contains certain elements that promote good feng shui, or in other words, the flow of positive energy.
The designer suggested a bold yet calming color to complement the neutral palette of his modern coastal bedroom. The proposed grass green color not only highlights the design, but also adds contrast that makes light furniture stand out. More natural textures add visual interest to the room and add a pleasant tactile element. Treated wood furniture also enhances the design and serves as a modern coastal touch.
Cozy Coastal Living Room Decor For Winter
With meticulous attention to detail, the designer created a modern coastal living and dining room that is quiet and spacious. The layout adheres to best Feng Shui practices, including limiting clutter, not blocking sightlines, and providing ample space between functional areas. At the same time, the design creates a relaxed atmosphere while allowing free flow of air, natural light and highlighting the views of the garden.
For this project, it was important to establish a connection with nature. The designer achieved this by making the large garden windows the focal point of the room and leaving the clerestory windows open. The minimal layout also puts more emphasis on the beautiful interior architecture. The resulting high ceiling with exposed beams, columns and various types of walls and ceilings becomes stunning in itself.
Modern coastal decor is both minimal and dramatic. For example, wall art and floor lamps draw attention to an impressive ceiling. Moreover, wicker baskets play on symmetry, although not identical, they still mirror the other wicker elements in the room, such as the nest chair, jute coffee table ottoman, dining chair and rug. The result is a cohesive and harmonious design.
The modern seaside accommodation is not only comfortable and idyllic, but also supremely pleasant, reminiscent of a boutique hotel, impressive on all levels. On the one hand, it is a high-quality, stylish and modern design that is attractive to the eye, and on the other, it is calm and pays tribute to natural materials. The interior may be luxurious, but it complements the beautiful exterior with thoughtful layouts and muted color schemes.
A Modern Coastal Home That Gives Off Good Vibes Only · Haven
Just like the living room design, the room emphasizes the view as the large windows facing the garden are decorated with minimal decor. Additionally, sparse turquoise chairs and potted plants set the scene, and pale sand-colored bedding and rugs are subtle enough not to detract from the focal point.
Inside, however, the room is a symphony of symmetry. A wooden slatted bed base saves space and adds texture to the interior. Opposite the bed is an assemblage of raw art that poetically contrasts with the treated wood of the bed frame. Again, these elements bring balance in texture, height and depth.
Beautiful modern coastal embellishments such as fabric hand hanging rope and distressed wool rug certainly pull the design together. Decorating is an important aspect of interior design, but it’s easy to overdo it. Instead of adding too many pieces, add pieces that are equally decorative and functional, like these hanging sconces. These lamps double the aesthetic value of the interior. Lastly, the essential but often overlooked wall color of a modern beach house is a cool gray shade that creates a clean and fresh feeling.
