Tiny House On Wheels Build

By | January 23, 2025

Tiny House On Wheels Build – The Cider Box Tiny House is a great design for couples and small families because it can accommodate two separate bedrooms, a full kitchen and a laundry room.

The unconventional ‘double canopy’ roofline adds more space, dimension and intrigue and clears the way for light to enter through strategically placed skylights, optional skylights and all-glass doors. The main loft is accessed via stairs which may contain storage compartments rather than a staircase. The kitchen includes space for a four-burner stove and a bar counter.

Black, gray, and brown renderings demonstrate what the design looks like in both 20′ and 24′ lengths, as well as modern, budget, or rustic finishes (please note: this artist’s renderings are not in the SketchUp model). One of Shelter Wise’s most popular designs since its inception, Cider Box Tiny House Plans are the modern tiny house plans you’ve been waiting for: spacious, beautiful, and functional.

How To Buy And Finance Your Tiny House

Our friend Jake from the Tiny Nest Project is an absolute genius with SketchUp and has created an editable version of the SketchUp model of the 24-foot Tiny House Cider Box design, which is now available as a PDF plans plugin. Watch the video below as Jake takes you on a virtual tour of the Cider Box and discover just how powerful a 3-D model can be.

The video demonstrates how useful the template is even for novice users. With the SketchUp Experience or Tiny Nest SketchUp Tutorial as your companion, you can:

The PDF-only plans are all you need to build the Cider Box Tiny House as is, either 20 or 24 feet long. PDF floor plans + 24′ editable SketchUp model together are a really powerful couple, allowing you to test the look of different materials, test interior design configurations or even change the structure, all before lifting a hammer.

These plans do not include electrical schematics, plumbing diagrams, or exterior finish materials.  These plans are a license to build a house and contain all the essential nuts and bolts to get a solid tiny house that is highly energy efficient and fully customizable to your liking. Professional builders interested in building multiple homes should contact us for a volume license for our tiny house plans.

All of the above, plus a fully editable and carefully crafted SketchUp model of a 24′ Tiny House Cider Box created by the Tiny Nest Project, with the full oversight and approval of Shelter Wise. This template is an incredibly useful addition to the Cider Box Tiny House PDF plans, but it’s not a literal 1:1 translation – it includes some slight optimizations to the original design to minimize construction waste.

New to SketchUp? The Tiny Nest SketchUp tutorial available at TinyNestProject.com is the perfect addition to this model for new SketchUp users. Jake from Tiny Nest is a great communicator and hands-on SketchUp expert, and his tutorial teaches you how to use the program and model like him.

When choosing a 20- or 24-foot Cider Box trailer, Shelter Wise recommends 7,000 lb axles each, for a total load capacity of 14,000 lb. The trailer will still carry 10,000 lb GVWR (gross vehicle weight), but will ride better and safer with higher rated axles. Iron Eagle Trailers creates our favorite tiny house trailers, and Deryn from Shelter Wise and Dee from PAD even helped them design their trailers to be perfect for tiny homes. Tell them PAD sent you and you’ll get $50 off your order.

With all of our plans, we recommend a copy of Go House Go, our how-to guide for building a tiny house on wheels. This is the book Dee wished existed when she built her tiny house, and she wrote it to save everyone else all the time and trouble she went through to figure out how to build smart and safe.

Meet Edwin and Clara, construction of their tiny house began in June 2018 on a 24ft x 97.5in 14k Tiny House Basic trailer with drop axles, but the journey really began in 2015. Living in San Diego at the time , both separately began to dream of life at home. Edwin was pursuing a degree in environmental engineering at UCSD and Clara was at a local community college studying science. Throughout this year, Edwin and Clara began to question their paths in life.

The degrees they were pursuing didn’t seem to guarantee the life they wanted to have. To be honest, the public did not like the game. Take out huge amounts of loans for school, for a house, and then work the rest of your life to pay it back? They didn’t feel good signing up for this race.
