In almost three weeks of construction, the Short Story was built in a land revival style as neighboring buildings using sustainable building materials and a low-cost construction method. Short Story is used both as insulation and as a function for walls. Designed and built with the Raumplan in mind, the Short Story is a single cubic volume with an interior space divided into different wooden sections and quadrants. From different corners of the house, Short Story’s living spaces change in size and function, incorporating narrow spaces such as sleeping nooks and high-ceilinged patios.

From the outside, Short Story looks like a simple, cubic building that is familiar in shape, construction, and style compared to nearby desert buildings. Although the exterior is visible from a distance, the building appears to change from bleached sand with small patterns near the base of the building to bright red tones near the top of the building due to the difference in the thickness of the blocks.
