How Expensive Is It To Build A Tiny Home – The cost of buying a home is very high these days, so it’s no wonder that tiny house remodeling is becoming more and more popular. Over the past few years we’ve crunched the numbers at Gizmag and compiled a list of the top 10 tiny houses. Andrew and Gabriella Morrison now join that group with their project, Home.
The couple completed the home in December 2013 after 4 years of planning, research and design. The construction was completed in just four months. The house measures 28 x 8.5 feet (8.5 x 2.6 m) and has an area of 221 square feet (20.5 square meters).

“Designing a home is an exciting process,” Gabriela Morrison told Gizmag. “Creating a list of essential ‘must-haves’ before we started was a huge help. The design process became a matter of poking around on a sketch pad until all the elements came together and flowed together. We got everything we wanted.”
Gabriela explained that the homestay has exceeded the family’s initial expectations and has become a favorite of all the homes they have stayed at. He explained that the sense of space can be maintained through smart design despite the character of the house.
“A big advantage of the indoor design is that there’s a lot of width in the activity corridor that runs the entire length,” he said. “So it’s easier to move around the place when other people are there. We both cook in the kitchen at the same time, which works well. It’s nice to have a small house with a spacious feel.”
The Morrisons built a house for the winter in late 2013 and found this to be the biggest problem they faced. Gabriela explained that if they were to do it again, they would wait until the weather warmed up, proving a test of more than two months of cold, rain, snow and wind during construction.

Throughout their website and YouTube videos, Morrisons make it clear that living in a tiny house is like living in a space. They support ways to reduce ownership, clutter (don’t be small) and simplicity. So when asked about a favorite aspect of the house or a new part, Gabriela likes to focus on the lifestyle that allowed them to live.
“We don’t take living in a place that supports our emotional and physical health for granted,” he explains. “In every other house we’ve lived in, we’ve felt they’ve ruined us, either because they’re too expensive to stress us out, or because they’re overwhelming and unnecessary. Experiences are controlled by restraint and simplicity, and prevent clutter and chaos.”
Morrisons has made their tiny house plans available for purchase online and plans to soon release a series of four step-by-step tiny house building videos. ‘. It indicates a way to close a connection or avoid notification.
