While not essential, providing designers with a clear visual guide to your preferred style can help the design process. In this case, the clients’ inspirational images clearly showed the designers what they wanted for their homes – coastal interior design. After receiving initial proposals from several designers, clients could choose the concept they liked.
Designer Wanda’s neutral and dreamy sideboard for the living room and dining room caught the attention of customers. He came up with a sandy color scheme that suits the modern coastal living room and suggested artistic accessories that give the interior a creative and unique look. Wanda also retained certain elements that promote good feng shui, or in other words, the flow of positive energy.
The designer proposed a bold yet soothing color to complement the neutral palette in her modern proposal for a coastal bedroom. The selected seagrass green not only elevates the design, but also adds a contrast that makes the lighter coastal furniture stand out even more. With more natural textures, the bedroom has a special visual appeal and a pleasant tactile element. Live and reclaimed wood also underpins the design and works as modern coastal decor.
Coastal Living Rooms That Feel Like A Day At The Beach
With great attention to detail, the designer combines a calm and spacious modern coastal living and dining room. The layout supports the best feng shui practices, specifically limiting clutter, not blocking sight lines, and providing plenty of space between functional areas. Thus, the design creates a comfortable environment by encouraging free air flow, natural light flow and emphasizing the view of the garden.
Connecting with nature was important for this project. The designer did this by ensuring that the large garden windows doubled as the focal point of the room while also keeping the clerestory windows open. The minimal layout pays more attention to the beautiful architecture of the interior. As a result, the high ceiling, with its exposed beams, columns and varying wall and ceiling depths, becomes a striking feature in its own right.
A pop of modern coastal decor is minimal and impactful. For example, wall paintings and floor lamps draw the eye to the impressive ceiling. In addition, the woven baskets play on symmetry, but not identically, but echo the other woven elements in the room, such as the nesting chair, the jute pouf that sits next to the coffee table, the dining chairs and the rug. The result is a unified and harmonious design.
This modern beach bedroom is not only comfortable and elegant, but perfectly impresses on all levels with the allure of a boutique hotel. On the one hand, the design is a high-end, stylish contemporary eye candy, on the other hand, it is calm and respects natural materials. The interior may be luxurious, but thanks to the careful layout and muted color scheme, it works to create a beautiful frame for the exterior.
How To Use Coastal Boho Decor In Your Home For The Ultimate Relaxed Style
Like the design of the living room, the view is emphasized in the bedroom, as minimal window covering adorns the large windows overlooking the garden. In addition, blue chairs and large potted plants embellish the look, while sandy bedding and rugs are subtle enough not to distract from the focal point.
And inside, the room is a symphony of symmetry. A wooden bed base saves space and adds a lot of texture to the interior. Opposite the bed is an ensemble of raw wood art that contrasts poetically with the reclaimed wood of the bed frame. However, these elements bring balance in texture, height and depth.
Beautiful modern coastal decor, such as a hand-woven rope wall hanging and a wool rug, are sure to pull the design together. Decorating is an important aspect of interior design, but it’s easy to overdo it. Instead of adding too many pieces, add pieces that are equally decorative and functional, like these hanging globes. These small lights double the aesthetic value of the interior. Finally, a necessary but often overlooked wall color in a modern beach house is a cool gray that gives a clean and fresh feel. Cool white balances the design as most of the decor and furniture are in warmer colors.

You might think that coastal living is a style that goes hand-in-hand with beach-themed cottage style. In our case, of course, we’re in landlocked Missouri! Our lake is recognized as one of the bluest lakes in America and we are very fortunate to enjoy it.
We love the lake and although we wanted to incorporate some lake elements, we didn’t want it to feel too kitschy. We also didn’t want it to feel like a dark, musty house, which is often synonymous with the words “lake house.”
