We did a kitchen renovation years ago and I still love how it turned out. Over time, our drawers and closets became more complex and intricate. Organizing something is one thing, but getting organized is a whole other ball game. Let me go through what I did to clear up our mess:

One of my favorite parts of the kitchen is the huge island in the middle. It has drawers and cupboards for lots of storage space. But it often turns into a big mess with stuff that gets thrown in. As you can see above, let’s get crazy! Here’s what it looks like after an hour of organizing:

There are many organizers, bins and things that can be used for your kitchen. I’ve found some great products at Home Goods, Marshalls, and Amazon. My go-to for all kinds of organization are these Ikea white cabinets. They come in different sizes and are cheap. They also look nice and bright white. I love them! Here are some other products that look great: The closet can be a difficult place to stay organized. The stock is always changing and there are lots of people moving things every day. (I’m talking 6 and under…) You really need systems to keep it organized and accessible to all family members. When it comes to storage, bigger isn’t always better. They can get lost and forgotten in large closets and often keep more than you need. Keeping a streamlined pantry keeps you accountable for food and wallet. Using some strategic products from The Container Store, I’ll show you how I turned my cabinet-style pantry into an organized space that stays that way!
Not only do we have upper cabinets for storing food, we have this amazing floor to ceiling cabinet area as our pantry. Like most closets, they tend to be deep and things can get lost in there (I’m talking about the old goldfish crackers). . I had very small and shallow baskets that were unused, creating useful space. The cans were stacked 6 rows above each other, and my onions and potatoes didn’t have a permanent home.
I really had my work cut out for me. My first step was to take everything out. Literally everything. And while I’m at it, I gave the interior a new coat of paint, just because. I got new homes for my Kitspot and my slow cooker because they were taking up valuable pantry space, and I was using them more often than every other item.
I traded in my small plastic baskets from The Container Store for medium and large sized hyacinth baskets. These are spacious, beautiful and come in a wide range of sizes to suit your space. When organizing a cabinet closet, you basically want to create a “drawer.” Yes, you can install pull-out shelves, but you’ll end up with baskets anyway. Next I used a large riser on my tin. I have used risers in the past but failed because they are too narrow for larger items. This 3-step take on container storage doesn’t disappoint. It fits large cans, jars and cartons and expands to fit your unique space.
Reduce. I’m always throwing away cereal and pastas, and I love these stackable modular containers to keep things fresh and visible. How many times have you bought a box of rice because you didn’t know you had 2 others at home? (raise hand several times) Simplification allows you to see what and how much of each item you have. Assign. Having specific baskets for specific items (with labels!) ensures that you only put what you need to in that basket. I love baskets to hold breakfast items, boxed dinners, desserts and snacks. Make it kid-friendly. I love kid-sized snack baskets. Bags, bars, you name it, baskets can hold it.
Reusing clear containers makes it easier to see what you have. Onions and potatoes are a good way to store them in a dark, cool place, and Idicing containers separate from each other.
How To Organize A Cabinet Style Pantry
Whether you buy in bulk or not, you always have more than you need and it becomes immediately apparent. Keeping a large container labeled “Back Stock” will remind you to look first before buying. It is also helpful to keep a shopping list in your pantry. Write down the moment you see something!
As an avid home baker, organizing my baking supplies was a must and it was worth giving up extra cupboard space just to do so. A year ago I cleaned out my kitchen sink. I have a habit of hoarding things I don’t need. After I got good news last year, I noticed that some closets started to fill up.
The first thing I do when organizing a space is the declutter. I go through all the items in each cabinet. Items we don’t use are recycled or I donate them. Be smart! I saw all the cups and glasses on my phone and realized I didn’t use them all, so I decided to keep the ones I used the most.
One of the reasons I loved seeing the original edit was all the containers they used for storage. I love how neat and organized everything is. I bought a few baskets and containers of different sizes. My kitchen cabinets are not deep, so I had to choose suitable storage containers. Once I was satisfied with my unpacking, I organized the items I kept using different sized baskets and storage containers.
If your cupboards have a lot of space, or you have the luxury of a pantry, you can use these clear containers to store your cereal or pasta.

Short of space? See if you can create another space in the house to store items you don’t use every day. I put my big pet food bag in the corner because it takes up a lot of space in my cupboards. You can also pull pots and pans out of your drawers and close them, which frees up valuable storage space and creates a display. Use the free space on the sides of your cabinets to hang some hooks and use this space for storage. Hang hooks from the bottom of the shelves to free up closet space.
My junk drawer tends to be pretty random around the house, but it’s also for the most important things in the house. I found my passport, batteries and vegetable seeds in my junk drawer. I added baskets to my junk drawer and paid to store my stuff like love. I removed anything that was a life manager or account to my office. I made a folder for those items and now keep it in my office.
